About Derek
I'm Derek Kaneshiro, an AI-native product engineer in Hillsboro, Oregon. As a single engineer I've built and launched two full-stack products, BlueSkil and Redy: each has a mobile app, a web app, an API, a CLI and an MCP server.
The method is what lets one engineer do that. Narrow AI agents handle the recurring work (tests, code review, schema validation, deploy gating), the architecture lives in versioned context files reviewed like code, and every deploy is gated on measured behavior rather than on whether the diff looks right. I open-sourced the evaluation layer, Synthetic Test Fabric, so you don't have to take my word for it.
Before this, I spent ten years as principal engineer on Zimmer Biomet's patient-recovery platform: HIPAA-regulated, 500,000+ patients. I built the rules engine behind every patient's daily care plan, alongside the clinicians who used it, and led the R&D that carried our first LLM prototypes through security and risk review. That decade is why speed doesn't come at the cost of quality in my work.
What I'm looking for: a product-engineer seat, full-time or a scoped engagement, on a small team that wants to build this way, with real ownership and AI in how the work gets done, not just in the product. Any domain.

Employers post a role and get an AI-ranked shortlist with the reasons behind every score. Matching runs on one fixed, published, versioned formula: the AI explains each match, and people make every hiring decision. Nine agents screen applicants, match roles and re-check postings around the clock, and users can connect their account to Claude or ChatGPT over MCP.
